Do you need water shoes for Saklikent Gorge?
Yes. The riverbed is incredibly slippery and the current is strong. Flip-flops will fall off. See Saklikent Packing List for details.
How cold is the water in Saklikent Gorge?
The Karaçay River maintains a frigid temperature of 5°C to 8°C (41°F to 46°F) year-round. It is very cold when you first step in.
How do I get to Saklikent Gorge from Fethiye?
You can drive 45 to 50 minutes east. You can also take a dolmuş (minibus) from the Fethiye bus station, or join a jeep safari. Check Fethiye Transport Options.
Is Saklikent Gorge open in winter?
The park is open year-round, but wading is restricted. During winter and after heavy rains, the inner canyon is closed due to dangerous water levels.
What does Saklikent mean in Turkish?
The name 'Saklıkent' translates to 'hidden city' in Turkish.
How long does it take to walk through Saklikent Gorge?
Most visitors spend 1 to 2 hours wading the 4 walkable kilometers during summer. The boardwalk takes 10 to 15 minutes.
Is Saklikent Gorge suitable for children?
The boardwalk is easy for all ages. However, wading the river is difficult for small children due to freezing water and strong currents. Read Kids at Saklikent.
Can you use a Museum Pass at Saklikent Gorge?
No. The Turkish Museum Pass (Müzekart) is not accepted here. You must pay the entry fee separately.
What is included in a Fethiye Jeep Safari?

How deep is Saklikent Canyon?
The canyon walls reach spectacular heights of up to 300 meters (984 feet) above the river.
What should I wear to Saklikent Gorge?
Wear quick-dry clothing or swimwear, and sturdy water shoes. Bring a complete change of dry clothes and a towel.
