The main canyon experience begins right at the national park gates. You will walk a suspended boardwalk before reaching the icy river.
Access the gorge through a paid entrance gate where the Karaçay River exits the canyon. The adult fee is 250 TL and students pay a discounted rate (around this, check on arrival). The gorge stretches 18 kilometers (11 miles) into the Taurus Mountains, with walls reaching up to 300 meters (984 feet) high.
During the summer peak season, gates open from 08:45 to 19:30. General visitors can walk about 4 kilometers into the canyon when water levels drop.

A 200-meter suspended path is bolted to the sheer cliff face above the rushing river. This provides a safe route into the canyon for all visitors. It is an excellent spot for taking photos if you prefer not to get wet. You will reach the main riverbed at the end of the walkway.

Step off the boardwalk to wade upstream against a freezing river current. The water stays between 5°C and 8°C (41°F to 46°F) year-round. The initial crossing is usually the deepest and fastest part of the hike. Link arms with other visitors if you need help keeping your balance.

Rustic cafes sit on wooden platforms built directly over the rushing river near the canyon entrance. They offer a place to rest and eat after your hike. You can order a traditional Turkish tea or a fresh trout lunch. Many visitors dangle their feet into the cold water while they sit.
